First, you must know and remember this: Wolfram Alpha is NOT a search engine. It is a computational
knowledge engine. And there IS a massive difference. Read on...
Wolfram Alpha computes things. W|A takes much of the data that has been accumulated in the world
(such as mathematics, science and engineering, among others) that we know about how to compute things - and
packages it. This is what is waiting for you behind the scenes when you get to the Wolfram Alpha search page.
When you ask W|A a question, it presents to you actual ANSWER results - not a list of pages that may or may
not contain the results (as Google does).
A Google search simply finds and presents items that have been copied or explicitly written down (entered into
a computer) somewhere before. Google results are based on "link-love"....that is, a page is higher ranked in the
google model based on the more links it has pointing to it. This is sort of a popularity contest and can be modified by
intense search engine optimization.
